The best pink lip ever!

Whenever I’m interested in purchasing a MAC lipstick I always, without fail, Google for swatches of the shade. Even if I am in the MAC store I will quickly whip out my phone and search the web to see how the lipstick looks on.

Recently I picked up ‘Pink Plaid’ a slightly purple toned pink lipstick and ‘Edge to edge’ lip liner, also a very similar shade. I wanted that Kylie Jenner dark pink lip, almost a natural pink shade but slightly darker (I’m so typical I know). So I thought I would share with you some swatches and what it actually looks like on. I have worn it six days in a row so far… That’s a lot when you have way over 100 lipsticks!

The lipstick is in the finish matte, which is a little drying but it doesn’t bother me one bit. If you have an issue with drying lipsticks, just apply a thin coat of lip balm on your lips before applying the lipstick! It lasts literally all day, the other day I did the ‘fried chicken wing test’, and yes it’s a test. If you’re in your sexiest state, holding chicken and munching away you will know typically, all the lipstick comes off. The test proved that this is a darn good lipstick.

What do you think of this shade? Yay or nay?

White 'n' Gold!

It’s been relatively quite cold this week and after being sent some Christmas themed products (yes I know, early) I felt oddly festively. So cracked out my gold nail polish BUT I did balance it out with some summery white? So I suppose I’m off the hook!

Essie ‘Blanc’ is one of those rare white nail polishes that only needs two coats, to die for right?

Don’t worry, I’m currently removing this polish and redecorating with some summery pink flamingos! Check back next Friday to see all the cute photos of them!

Looking for a cheap illustrator?

Art has always been a massive love of mine, so I have decided to get back into it and to put my work out there! I can do many different styles but illustrations are defiantly my favourite.

The above illustration is an example of my work and this little blog post is to share with you guys incase you are looking for an illustrator. Most illustrators cost around £50 to £100, as I am looking to build a portfolio I am charging a mere £20 for illustrations and artwork for blogs, websites or if you just want an illustration! I am a perfectionist so will work closely with you to establish exactly what you want and will take time delivering a piece which fits what you were picturing in your head! I do not mind doing a few drafts for you, so that you get your money’s worth!

If you are interested email me at vavaviolett@outlook.com or tweet me @sophie_blackman and I will follow you so we can private message!

Get to know me!

Reading blogs sometimes can feel like you’re just reading a magazine, you love the article yet you know nothing about the journalist whose words are moving you. When I’m into a blog I like to get to know the blogger, their interests, habits, favourite animal? To me it’s what makes a blog more interesting, its personal and that’s what makes it so realistic and relatable.

This post is a mere small place where you can get to know the personal side of me; I’m more than just a mascara review or one of my columns talking about relationships and sex.

My name is Sophie, which I find too common so will hesitantly tell anyone I meet politely to call me Soph, also because I’m lazy and Soph is easier to type.

I’m an 18-year-old British teen who yes, loves tea and coffee and drinks too many cups a day. I even have a collection of mugs and different teas, impressed yet?

I have an extremely unique taste in every little thing, from art to an obsession of buying foreign food. My room is full of quirky interior, from my favourite Disney characters in the form of cuddly toys (yes I’m 12 at heart) to pug duvets and walls filled with pretty artwork I have come across. I’m obsessed with Disney, like literally obsessed. Also, another fact thrown into the mix, I collect socks, yes, yes, I am Dobby the house elf. I have over 50 pairs of socks that still have the labels attached, from a Mean Girls pair to tigers and doughnuts.

The best thing I love about getting to know a blogger is how relatable and real it can feel when reading their work. I’m no BeyoncĂ©, most of my teenage life I was a size 14, only recently have I become a size 12, sadly it meant cutting down on McDonald’s and having to do weird workouts and move my body in ways I didn’t know it could move. I’d love to do more outfit posts but my thighs and tum are an insecurity stopping that (any bloggers relate?). I have bad days and good days and I won’t be afraid to write and share about both. I’m human and sometimes I do have days where I break everything, spill all my drinks, be a brat and generally have a poo day. It happens. I’ve had my heart broken, experienced things that were so unfair, cried till my nose goes crusty but I’ve also experienced amazing things, had amazing people enter and stay in my life and am grateful for literally, everything!

I love taking photos, having baths with overly expensive Lush Cosmetics bath bombs, falling asleep watching a rubbish film, walking my dogs (aka being dragged by my dogs), cracking a dark humour joke that no one laughs at apart from me, collecting socks, drawing and creating art, drinking orange juice, Costa Coffee Christmas cups, Christmas, my family, oh boy do I love my family! Friends, I have the most amazing girl friends you could ever ask for. I can count them on one hand, but I can promise you that if I ever get married they will be my bridesmaids and I will make them wear hideous dresses just because I can on that special day.

I pretty much hold my iphone 6 in my right hand constantly, not because I am an unsociable person but because I have extremely weird phobias. I fear that someone will pick pocket it from me or nab it from my bag. I don’t walk across three drains and I certainly don’t walk under signs or ladders. I’m an October baby so naturally Halloween is my favourite time of year and I go to town on it.

I laugh at everything, I am incredibly loyal to those I love and would put someone I love and cherish before me in any situation. I’m a very generous person; if I go shopping I always get my mum a present. I hide my emotions and if I am sad, down, depressed I will hide it. I don’t like to show my weak and vulnerable side, I don’t like people feeling sorry for me, I’d much rather people think of me as the bubbly girl who always laughs. Which is true 80% of the time.

I’m a dreamer and I dream big. My goal is to become a journalist, it’s always been my goal, I love writing, discovering and questioning people. Yupp, I’m nosey. The ultimate goal is to work for a magazine, have my own column where I can write to my little hearts content. I also want to publish a book; I’ve written the first 100 pages and plan to invest every penny if I have to, to make it something one day other than just a word document on my MacBook.

I’m very friendly and approachable if you ever want to chat, tweet me at @sophie_blackman or email me at vavaviolett@outlook.com and we can natter away about literally, anything!

Oh and my favourite animals is, I can’t choose I love them all but dogs and panda’s have a special place in my heart!

Beauty Desk Tour!

What’s better than a room tour? Why, a beauty tour of course. Personally, I love seeing how many shades of purple lipsticks people have. It says a lot about a person, you’ll be able to see from my close up of my lipstick draws that I have more nudes than the population of China. Bare in mind, I have 2 boxes under the desk that can’t fit in the draws. I know, I know, I have an actual problem.

I decided to just have one set of Mujii draws on my beauty desk, as it just looked too crowded with too many draws on top. So I have joined the club and purchased some Ikea Alex draws to stash my stash. Since I have started sporting my lipsticks this way I’ve worn a different lipstick everyday, tried out ones I hadn’t even opened and been a lot more adventurous than just using ‘Whirl’ by MAC every single day… Seeing as I can finally see them all!

On top of the lipstick draw's I just have my most used and daily products. My Chanel No5 perfume that I treasure, MAC Studio Fix for when I cake my face too much and need to calm it down, lash glue for those sassy days and of course tweezers to pluck my unibrow, which I pretty much do daily!

I still have a few things I need to do like paint the outside of my mirror white and buy a more comfortable chair. Stupidly I was mid cleaning my brushes while taking these pictures so most of my brushes are drying on my windowsill.

Link me up ladies if you have done a beauty tour or room tour, I’d love to have a nosey! & let me know what you think of my beauty desk!
