Every year I have the same dilemma, the boyfriend blues. Just like how I
pull out my blanket and Christmas hot chocolate mug I wish I could unpack my
winter partner.
During the summer, I love being single. I find myself and my friends are
a lot more social and go out every single Friday and Saturday night. Boys are
the last thing on my mind as I just want to spend every second with the girls.
However, come October when it starts getting cold we all turn into
hermits. Unless we’re in a coffee shop gossiping about some worthless crap I’m
either shivering in a smoking area, bored and wanting to go home or I’m
cuddling myself on my sofa – literally cuddling myself, in a onesie, while
stroking/playing with my own hair.
I always seem to end up getting into relationships this time of the year
– known as ‘cuffing season’ – because we apparently look for mates in the
winter and here’s why:
1. There’s
nothing better than lying in bed/cuddling up with someone you care about and
just being able to talk to someone that you trust.
2. Not being
pestered by your family over the holidays with questions like “Have you met
someone?” “My friend’s son would be perfect for you” – nan, I know you mean
well but no.
3. Eating all the
food while watching crime documentaries, Stranger Things and films.
4. Being around
their family over Christmas.
5. Going on cute
winter dates, cinema, meals out, Winter Wonderland.
6. Having sex while
it’s raining and cold outside. I don’t know why this is a thing but it’s just
comforting.
7. Human contact.
I’ve realised I hate cuddling and holding hands in the summer like no, just get
off me. But in the winter, it would be nice to have a hug here and there.
8. I like stylish
coats that don’t keep me warm so therefore I need a man’s to steal.
9. Bonfire night.
We all like a bit of romance and watching a firework display together is simply
adorable.
10. Being stuck
inside more due to the coldness can get really lonely.
